19/03/2010 - The Chosun Ilbo
Korea and Denmark have promised to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in developing renewable energy sources and improving fuel efficiency.
President Lee Myung-bak and Danish Prime Minister Lars Rasmussen, who is on his first official visit to Korea, held a summit at Cheong Wa Dae on Thursday.
Lee said the two countries agreed to cooperate in many fields, especially in conserving energy and developing green technologies. Information technology, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals were also discussed as areas where the two countries can join efforts, he added.
The two leaders also promised to expand two-way trade and investment. Following the summit, a social security pact was signed streamlining business operations and costs in the two countries.
Lee said he accepted the Danish Prime Minister's invitation to visit his country next year. Cheong Wa Dae says the summit served as a chance for the two leaders to refresh their promise to cooperate in areas involving the two countries' competitiveness.
